Meet Ann, our brilliant Financial Controller here at Chupi. We hear the stories behind Ann’s most loved pieces, including her Darling in the Wild Emerald Me to Me Ring and her most loved heirloom rings.

As you can imagine working for Chupi, my jewellery collection has expanded over my time here and no more so than my rings. Before I started working with Chupi, I had four gold rings which I wore every day. Gold is so hard wearing yet so beautiful it can be worn everywhere, every day.

My oldest ring is my Claddagh ring, given to me by my Godmother and my mother’s bridesmaid Nan, whom I was named after, on my 21st birthday.  The Claddagh can be worn as a traditional West of Ireland wedding ring or as a dress ring, but it must be given to you by a person who loves you. I wear it with the heart facing inward to show my heart is taken.

After the dark days of the recession, redundancy, going back to college myself, getting our two children, now beautiful adults, through school and college and off into life with their partners, I look at my beautiful Darling in the Wild Emerald Ring, it reminds me of my family and how strong we are together.

My ring stack is worn on my wedding finger and it signifies major events in my life.  My engagement ring is a polished band with a raised diamond flanked by two smaller diamonds. This was given to me by my then boyfriend, now husband Kieran, on our engagement a year after we first met. My wedding ring is a gold scalloped band given to me by Kieran on our wedding day 5 months later and we completed the stack with an eternity ring of sapphires and diamonds on the birth of our son 4 years later.

I was born in October as was my daughter and when Chupi launched the Solid Gold Lucky Star Birthstone Ring range with the modern stone, I discovered that my stone was a moonstone and as a huge Star Trek fan, what could be more appropriate than that. I now wear that as my pinky ring.

I fell in love with this ring when it first arrived in the studio last year. I spent months trying to pretend it didn’t exist and that I didn’t want or need it, but who was I fooling?

My newest ring is my Darling in the Wild Emerald ring.  This was a me to me ring last year. I fell in love with this ring when it first arrived in the studio last year. I spent months trying to pretend it didn’t exist and that I didn’t want or need it, but who was I fooling? It drew me in and one day I tried one on, it fitted perfectly and I just had to have it.  After the dark days of the recession, redundancy, going back to college myself, getting our two children, now beautiful adults, through school and college and off into life with their partners, I look at my beautiful emerald and it reminds me of my family and how strong we are together.

What will my next piece be? Oh there are so many I could choose, but I am running out of fingers. I love the Solid Gold We Are All Made Of Stars Libra Necklace and again am trying to pretend it doesn’t exist. Will it work this time? I very much doubt it somehow!
