Next up on our Chupi Team What I Do series is our brilliant Head of Digital Jennie!

What is your role?

Head of Digital for Chupi, overseeing all things e-commerce and digital strategy.

How did you get here?

I’ve spent about 10 years running my own businesses, including aggregate fashion ecommerce platform Opsh and the shoppable magazine Prowlster. Under Sister The Agency, I now offer long-term consulting on ecommerce and the business of branding.

My background is quite diverse; I have a degree in Communications, a PG Cert in Fashion and Lifestyle Journalism and a masters in Cultural Policy and Management and have upskilled specifically across digital marketing, ecommerce and strategy.

Best bits?

The product, the endlessly energetic team, the beautiful customer stories and working with the absolute powerhouse that is Chupi Sweetman. She is an endless inspiration and such a positive business woman.

People or businesses or brands you admire?

In Ireland – I love the Iconic Offices business model; possibly because Roisin Lafferty’s interiors skills are exceptional.

I adore the AAD and Good as Gold branding. I really admire businesses that invest in branding and storytelling. On the retail side, I think the Dunnes model for acquiring exclusive, premium Irish brands is really interesting. I have a personal passion for Irish-made micro-businesses, so April and The Bear, Modern Botany, My Shining Armour, Fisher and Saint and many more…Internationally, I love “We Make Websites” for the best UX on tech and I think Klarna for Millennial Payment Planning is a a business to watch.

Top tips for getting into your role?

Continuous Professional Development – it’s about consistently upskilling and searching for knowledge. I’m a big believer in conferences and networking – I actively maintain my networks online and offline. Also today digital really means omni-channel, so it’s about joined-up thinking across online and offline. The sweet spot is blending branding, commercial strategy and data and automation – so it’s key to keep your fingers in all the pies.

Favourite Chupi piece and why?

Hawthorn Twig as I was one of the first to get a wedding band made by Chupi before she really did wedding bands. I also love the North Star collection – I do love a signet ring, but the whole collection is imbued with a lovely meaning.
