Next up on on the Chupi Team What I Do series is our social media expert Emily!

What is your role?

My role in Chupi is PR & Social Media Executive. My role is extremely broad, no two days are ever the same! A usual day for me includes looking after the Chupi social media accounts, answering PR requests, assisting on photoshoots and events and briefing daily Instagram stories to Lisa.

How did you get here?

I studied Journalism in college and my degree definitely helped me to gain a good understanding of the media world. I did work experience with a Haute Couture designer named Jen Kelly while in my final year of college and developed a huge interest and love for Irish design, Jen was so passionate and insightful about how tough it is for Irish designers to ‘make it’ in the current climate. I focused my final year radio piece on the importance of supporting Irish design, so it’s crazy for me to think I now work for such an amazing Irish designer! I began working with Chupi as an PR & Marketing intern before Christmas and recently stayed on to work with the company full time.

Best bits?

One of the best bits would have to be the copious amounts of chocolate and baked goods, in the studio, there is rarely a day where you wouldn’t find something sweet! Aside from the treats, the team I work with are so incredible, we’re like a little family. Working with the most gorgeous jewellery is definitely a huge advantage too!

People or businesses or brands you admire?

I have real admiration for Irish designers who paved their way even when the economy was in a bad way. Sara O’Neill is a stylist and designer from Northern Ireland who creates the most gorgeous, colourful scarfs taking inspiration from Irish myths and legends. I absolutely love her work and the story behind it, the beauty and uniqueness of her brand is rare to find in the design world today.

Another person I admire is Chupi, I count myself lucky to work for such an amazing woman. In my short time here I have learnt so much, her work ethic is incredible.

Top tips for getting into your role?

Lots of experience and talking to people. I learned a lot from going to events in college and networking with people in the business, finding out how they got to where they are today. Keeping an open mind was really important for me, I applied for so many jobs after finishing college and never thought I would end up in the role I’m in.

Favourite Chupi piece and why?

My favourite Chupi piece is definitely the North Star necklace, it’s such an eye catching piece and I love the meaning behind it. It’s the perfect piece to dress up a casual outfit!
