Fine jewellery, especially engagement and wedding rings are meant for everyday wear.

Ranking at 9.25 on the MOHS scale of hardness, moissanite is one of the most durable gemstones used in jewellery. The gem is highly scratch resistant and handles rough exposure extremely well. Read on for our tips on how to care for moissanite jewellery.

How to clean moissanite jewellery

One of the best ways to clean your moissanite pieces at home is to use a mild soap, warm water and a cloth or toothbrush. Place your moissanite piece in the soapy solution for 1 minute, and gently brush around the stone with a soft toothbrush. Rinse the ring with cold water to get rid of any soapy residue and pat dry with a 100% cotton cloth.

Every Chupi Engagement Ring comes with a complimentary ring cleaning pen and cloth. The Chupi Cleaning Pen is designed to make your solid gold pieces sparkle like they day you got them. The solution is gentle enough to clean your Chupi Engagement Ring and is also gentle on your skin.

Here at Chupi, we offer a free ring cleaning service once a year for up 5 years. Our ring cleaning service includes an assessment by our goldsmiths for general wear and tear as well as a deep clean to return your ring to it’s shiny best!

What to avoid

Avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning your moissanite, including household detergents, cosmetics, hair sprays and chlorine. While these won’t directly damage the stone, they add to the grime build up and reduce the sparkle of the stone.

As moissanite is a very hard stone, it is likely to scratch softer gemstones and metals. We recommend storing your moissanite piece separately to your precious jewels to prevent scratching.
