In the latest installment of The Chupi Wedding Series, we speak to Chupi & Brian about their beautiful five-day wedding in Mount Druid, Mullingar.
It’s no surprise that we adore weddings here at Chupi HQ. From the venue, to her dress and her favourite moment on the day, we asked Chupi Sweetman to share with us the details of her gorgeous wedding day.
“Our venue, Mount Druid in Mullingar, was a blank canvas which enabled us to have a five-day wedding, a culmination of all of the talents and skills of a brilliant group of people – from my brother who shot our wedding video, to our lighting engineer friend who lit the wedding with over 300 candles and bespoke “C&B” lights, to my mum and sister-in-law who made all of the flowers. I made 500m of bunting, 300 gold card birds, 200 flags and various other crazy projects.”
“I tried on so many dresses in the lead-up to the wedding. I had no idea what I wanted, but I wanted to feel like me. Eventually I found my dress in the Suite on Drury Street in a sample sale. It was bias cut, two very thin layers of silk. It felt so beautiful on. I love making things, so I also made my hair band, flower hair piece, veil – and jewellery of course!”
The Wedding Bands
“I made our wedding rings. Whilst out walking our little pups with Brian we found a fallen Hawthorn tree, it had the most beautiful twigs. I stole a branch and made Brian’s ring from a piece of the bark in 14k yellow gold. My wedding band was made from a tiny twig in 18k yellow gold set with tiny moissanites.”
“We took half an hour in the during our wedding when everyone was dancing to have a moment to ourselves. We went to the top of a little hill to soak in the happiness of having everyone we loved most in the world around us!”
Favourite Memory of the Day
“My favourite moment was at our humanist ceremony, sitting in the chapel beside Brian surrounded by all the people we love most in the world.”
