In the latest installment of The Chupi Engagement Series, we speak to the amazing Cheryl & Will from Ballyshane about how a very special Chupi ring was part of their engagement in Yosemite on New Years Eve. Cheryl is also the brilliant General Manager here at Chupi.

“We are both from Tullow in County Carlow, so our paths had crossed a few times before we got to know each other. It wasn’t till we ended up working together in 2014 that we really got to know each other. In March 2015 we went on our first date and the rest is history!”

“A week into dating, Will turned to me and said “I will marry you one day!”, I laughed! But he asked me to marry him every day without fail since we’ve been together.. 1,349 times to be exact!”

The Proposal

“Last Christmas we headed to California on a big road trip. San Francisco, Yosemite, Vegas, LA were on the list.. We wanted to see it all. Both Will and I have a huge love of nature and trees (Will being a woodturner and all that). To celebrate New Years, we planned to stay in Yosemite at Tenaya Lodge and go on a hike on New Years Eve. On New Years Eve on a bridge in House Keeping Camp, Will got down on one knee and said: “I’ll ask you one last time.. Will you marry me?”, I don’t think I actually said yes I was crying so much!”

“I always knew I wanted a Chupi engagement ring, even before I started working at Chupi! A 2 carat pear shaped grey diamond, surrounded by classic diamonds was my dream engagement ring. One day last year, a 2 carat Queen of Hearts Pear with the most stunning grey diamond arrived into the studio and I fell in love with it. That evening, I rang Will on my way home from work and told him how much I loved this ring. He rang Chupi straight after our call, and Chupi put the ring aside in secret for 7 months! Chupi told me that a customer had bought the ring and I was devastated, but she had it put away for me all along!”

Chupi Engagement Series Cheryl & WIll

“I knew exactly what Chupi ring I wanted all along. I have worked with Chupi for nearly 4 years now and on our very first trip to London, I told Chupi that if Will ever comes to her looking for a ring, I want a 2 carat grey diamond with a classic diamond halo!”

“When I look at my Chupi Engagement Ring now, I think of our life together. We’re getting married in the Cliff at Lyons this October. It’ll be a day filled with prosecco and our closest friends and family.”
